Alex Horton, school leader
Mr. Alex Horton earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and a minor in History at Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC. It was at Presbyterian College where Mr.Horton began to follow the motto "while we live, we serve." Mr. Horton completed his teacher certification program at Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA and earned his Masters Degree in Administration and Supervision at the University of Phoenix.
After teaching in Georgia for six years, Mr. Horton moved to Arizona to join the Leona Group. After a brief teaching assignment, he was promoted to an assistant school leader position and then served as the principal and school leader of two different Leona high schools prior to opening Crestview College Preparatory High School in August 2009. He joined South Ridge High School as leader in 2011. Mr. Horton also serves the community as a volunteer soccer trainer at a local club.

Rosana Rodriguez, assistant principal
Originally from Middletown, New York. Mrs. Rodriguez graduated from SUNY Oswego in 2000 with a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education, k-8. She worked as a case manager for pregnant and parenting teens prior to moving to Arizona in 2003. She began with the Leona Group at Tempe Accelerated High School in 2003 where she worked as an ESL and English teacher. In August of 2003 she began the Masters program at Arizona State University and graduated with a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with a minor in Bilingual Education in May of 2005. Soon after Mrs. Rodriguez began working as the special education coordinator at Tempe Accelerated High School and began her special education certification at University of Phoenix. She completed her special education certification in 2006. Mrs. Rodriguez then began working at Peoria Accelerated High School in August of 2006 as the special education coordinator. Mrs. Rodriguez will complete her Principal Certification through Northern Arizona University in December 2009.

Dr. Melissa Rivers earned her Bachelor of Science from The King’s College, and her Master’s and Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Arizona State University. She has been an educator for over fifteen years and has worked with students at pre-school through graduate levels, teaching at Maricopa High School and Horizon Community Learning Center. Dr. Rivers is from New York, but has lived in Arizona for 16 years. She joins the Leona group and South Ridge High School after serving most recently as a researcher at Arizona State University.
