Darlene Jones, a member of the 2012 graduating class of South Ridge High School, was awarded a Los Diablos Scholarship from the Arizona State University Alumni Association. This scholarship covers all costs for students that financial aid will not cover.
Rising Senior College Workshops and CCP course
Summer college preparation workshops will be held on June 19th and June 20th for rising seniors. There will be a total of four (4) workshops...two on each day. The times will be 10 AM - 12 PM and 2 PM - 4 PM on each of the days.
A new College and Career Preparation (CCP) course will be held in the fall and available to some 12th graders. The CCP course will be scheduled for rising juniors in the spring of the 2012-2013 school year (three sections will be offered). CCP workshops will be held for seniors that were not able to be scheduled into the CCP course in the fall.
Over 100 rising 9th graders are attending the South Ridge Future Freshmen Academy (FFA) in June. The FFA prepares students for classes that will be offered to them during the school year. Each student is enrolled in three classes: English, Math and Science. Students are taught the expectations of the classrooms, the coursework and the mission of the school. Students have the ability to work their way into honors courses through their efforts during FFA. Students may also elect to participate in weightlifting and conditioning programs after classes conclude.
Welcome new Mavericks!
